pool@raid

I have a PowerVault ME5024  with 4 drivers SAS and 4 drivers SSD SAS, so I wonder what I should do about choosing 1 pool or 2 pool, and what disk group means.

Hi,

A "ME5024 disk group" refers to a collection of physical disks within a Dell PowerVault ME5024 storage array, which are grouped together to manage data as a single unit, allowing for efficient storage operations like RAID protection and data distribution across multiple disks.

Well, combining all your SAS and SSD drives into a single pool maximizes the total capacity available. But the overall performance could be lower than having separate pools because slower SAS drives might become a bottleneck.

Separating the SAS and SSD drives into different pools, you can allocate high-performance workloads to the SSD pool and use the SAS pool for less performance-sensitive data. But you'll need to manage and allocate capacity between the two pools, which could be less flexible than having a single pool.
