OST Client Authentication Failed
I'm setting up a new DR4100 and trying to connect to it from a Win2k8 server running Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP4. All components have latest updates for software, plugins and drivers. I was able to install the OST plugin into BE and I've created an OST container on the DR, but I get the "OST client authentication failed" error when I try to add the openstorage device in BE. I've verified the password for the login account and I have the OST ports in the windows firewall on the BE server.
What should I check next? Thanks.

Hello TRNC,
From what you stated in your original post is it seems that you might have an issue with the backup account . I would double check your setting & make sure that the following is configured correctly.
1) Make sure the OST container has been configured on the DR4000
2) Make sure the backup_user account has been configured in Backup Exec
3) Make sure the backup_user passwords match on the DR4000 and the Backup Exec media server
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

More info - the DR and the BE server are both in AD, so the login account I'm using is and AD account that is in the windows admin group on the BE server, the logon account in BE and the login group on the DR. In the "Add OpenStorage Device" window, I tried putting in the DR local backup_user account, but it doesn't allow me to do that.

Thanks, Sam. I had to set up the backup_user account in BE.
FWIW, that part of the documentation is a little confusing (pp 154-155 in the admin guide). It says to create the logon account and lists backup_user as an example instead of saying that backup_user is the required account. That's why I was trying to use an AD logon account.
Thanks again.
