ML3 Drive Cannister

Hi

I have an LTO8 drive for an ML3. the drive caddy pcb was damaged which i replaced, but now the drive doesn't work inside the library. complains of an IP config error.

Any ideas?

Kryten-GT,

This could be caused from a couple different things. The first thing I would look at is the firmware version of the replacement PCB, the new PCB may not match the firmware version expected by the ML3 library.

Also, the ML3 uses internal addressing and expects the drive to respond on a specific IP or SAS address. If the drive is seen as an external device or unconfigured, it will throw IP-related errors, so that is also something to consider.

Lastly, it could be that replacing the caddy PCB may have reset or corrupted the drive's internal identity EEPROM, which stores: Drive serial number, IP configuration, SAS address, and Library communication parameters.

What I would suggest that you start with is running tape diagnostics, as laid out here.

I would also verify that the firmware is at the level it was before.

Let me know if this helps.

Originally the unit came with 2 drives, so i tried the caddy that does work with the drive that had a damaged caddy, but that didn't work either. i would have thought being bought together they would be a similar config/fw.

I have the GUI version of ITDT, which passed ok
