ML3 direct attached to Dell R640
Hello guys,
I am new to fibre channel setup and this is my first time to setup a tape library. My goal is to connect an ML3 Tape Library to a baremetal server(R640) using direct attached connection if possible as we currently don't have the money to buy a FC Switch. what do i need in terms of hardware requirements to achieve this? Can i use the broadcom 10GbE adpater of the server for this or do i need to get compatible HBA?

Ok, so a good start point is the same Dell EMC ML3 Tape Library User's Guide
In this guide you have 2 sections related to Installation and Connection where you can check the multiple connectivity options. Then you should check the Dell EMC Tape Compatibility Matrix. In this document you can find the supported HBAs.
Finally, I strongly recommend you to use our Partner Network. They will assist you configuring your hardware and offer you the better option to suit your needs. You can use this search engine and ask any of the partner for the hardware configuration you need for directly attaching the ML3.
