ME5024: Regarding the "Volume Allocation show 18.0PB" Bug

Today we noticed volumes displaying 18.0PB, indicating that the allocated size exceeded the actual total size.

We quickly found the KB article related to this bug, but we have a question:

Is the firmware mentioned in the article (ME5.1.2.1.1) enough to resolve the display issue, or must we complete the resolution steps listed as well?

The wording (quoted below) almost makes it seem as if the firmware will only prevent the issue from occurring again in the future, and that the steps must be completed if you're seeing the over-provision of space.

The ME5.1.2.1.1 firmware will address the issue and prevent it from recurring in the future. If experiencing over-provisioning of space allocation, follow these steps:

1. Back up all data.
2. Delete the existing pool and volumes.
3. Re-create the pool and volumes.
4. Restore the data to correct the space usage.
