ME4012 and ME412 with R640 servers

Hello

I've been tasked with configuring something that I honestly know little about currently. We have two new R640 servers and an EMC4012 enclosure (9x16Tb SAS) and an EMC412 enclosure (7x16Tb SAS).

Ultimately I need a volume on each of the two R640 servers for the purposes of cctv storage. Currently I'm struggling to understand:

a) how to connect the 4012 to the 412 with the SAS mini cables (which ports on each unit)

b) how to connect the 4012 to one of the R640's running MS Win19 Server

I have connected to the 4012 and assigned an IP address from a laptop. However the landing page for the device only shows unconfigured space for the main unit and no mention of the 412 expansion module. Only two SAS HD mini cables shipped with the units. I'm assuming that one connects 4012 to 412 and the other 4012 to one of the servers? Thus the second server can't be physically connnected to the 4012 unless a third cable is used??

Sorry to appear to so dim on the subject but this is all new to me tbh. Appreciate all help. Thank you

Hello Paul,

From the support page you can find the Deployment guide that has installation checklist, set up steps, cabling guide. You may like to start with the installation checklist page 9.

Also there you can find the Administrator guide. These are your two best documents to review to get started.
