iDRAC warning of predictive failure but OMSA says things are fine.
Hi,
I have two MD1400 arrays arranged in one RAID 6 array and connected to a PowerEdge R230 through a PERC H830 Adapter.
The iDRAC 8 (firmware version 2.83.83.83) is reporting 3 drives (one of which has just been replaced) as being in a Predictive Failure state but OMSA (version 9.5.0) is saying everything is fine and this agrees with the LEDs on the front panel and on all the drives.
I'm inclined to think that OMSA is correct but I am curious as to how this could come about. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi @bob_brand,
That's sort of weird, as OMSA pulls the hardware health from iDRAC/LCC.
Have you tried resetting iDRAC? Are the 3 drives on the same MD or separated?

Yep. Tried resetting the DRAC - no change. All three drives are on the same enclosure.

Hi @bob_brand,
Is the PERC H830 up to date? If not, try to get the PERC up to date, I read in the release note in one of the update (25.5.0.0018, not the latest though), there is a fix on predictive failure issue on drives.
Have you tried restarting OMSA services? https://dell.to/3K5TjKA.
At point of time, it is unknown which is having an issue, iDRAC or OMSA. Hence, to find out more about the drive issue, you probably might need to look into PERClog.

A planned reboot can help to fix the issues related to system sync

Thanks Joey and Praveen. My apologies for not replying sooner.
I've restarted the OMSA services without any change.
I'll try to schedule some down time to update the firmware on the H830. My only problem could be that we're running CentOS on this machine and some of the Dell installers don't like that.
Thanks,
Bob
