Ejecting and loading tapes through mailslot on a PowerVault 124 LTO5

I'm really new to tape backups and am just trying to find a simpler way to change tapes daily.

The company I work for keeps their tapes off site and switches out one a day so they don't use the libraries, only the mail slot.  In order to swap the tape daily once backup is finished (I believe they use Symantec Backup Exec 2012).  It has to be manually ejected.  We've been told that ejection cannot be automated.  Next, someone has to go through the LCD menu to load a tape, through mailslot, select location, slot 1, etc.  Is there a way this can be simplified and just have a user insert the tape and have it defaultly accept the tape and assign it to slot 1?

I'm really not technical so I apologize if none of this makes sense.  Please let me know if you need any more information.

Hello mrush,

There isn’t a way to automate the process of ejecting the media.  But what you can do is to eject the whole magazine & that way you can remove the tape & insert the new tape without using the mailslot.  On the back of the magazine there is a white wheel & you can spin that & it will move the tapes to the opening and remove the tape & insert the new one.
