Dell QLE2662 Boot from SAN with UEFI

I have some R630 and R640 servers that have Dell branded QLE2622 dual port 16GB Fibre Channel HBAs in them. I wanted to use them in a "Boot from SAN" scenario. I went into the HII interface and configured the LUN ID and FC ID of the array port. When I try to use them while the system is set for UEFI mode they will not show up in the boot menu and will not boot from. If I switch the servers over to BIOS mode then they boot from SAN just fine.

Was wondering if anyone knows if these HBA's support boot from SAN via UEFI mode on R630/R640 systems? If so, what do I need to do to enable it.

Thanks,

Hello the article here show the limitations of UEFI.

UEFI: The Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) is a new interface between operating systems and platform firmware. The interface consists of data tables with platform related information, boot and runtime service calls that are available to the operating system and its loader. The following benefits are available when the Boot Mode is set to UEFI:

  • Support for drive partitions larger than 2 TB.
  • Enhanced security (e.g., UEFI Secure Boot).
  • Faster boot time.
