Dell Power Vault TL2000 tape Library - 2 Drives
I have TL2000 with LTO6 drive and recently started to wear down so i ordered new LTO8 drive and was planning to use both tape drives on the library and separate the load between them
I have 2 questions need your help with please :
1- is it possible to use LTO6 and LTO8 drives on the same library ?
2- for barcode labels should i start new numbering for the LTO8 tapes or continue from what i have of LTO6 tapes labels ?
for example if i have LTO6 tapes labels ends with 300L6 should i get new labels LTO8 tapes start with 301L8 or 001L8 ?

Hello,
I was looking at the manual for the TL2000 and it indicated that bar code labels aren't required, that they're just there for identification. For practical usage purposes, I'd implement something that provides a clear distinction, though.
As for the tape mixing, it looks like you can install LTO-6 and 8 in the same unit, but may need to be in different volumes. I didn't find anything in the manual saying it you couldn't have different tapes installed, but did find some other references to other tape combinations.
