Dell ML3 Administrator Locked Out
Hello all,
Dell ML3 tape library recently went out of warranty.
the 'administrator' user is locked out in the GUI. Followed the manual with an on-site recovery.
From the Configuration > User Accounts > Access Recovery page, you can
receive a temporary administrator password for login to the Management GUI
that is valid for two hours.
Excited all the menus on the device. Unfortunately the password does not work and the account is still locked out. Waited another 2 hours and tried again, different password, same result.
Soft and hard power cycled the library and administrator account remains locked out. Would anyone have ideas?
Factory reset?

Hi,
Have you tried using another browser or another client system to try login to the UI using the recovery password? Just to confirm, it's caps (A) Administrator is being used right? If you have tried the above and not able to log in, then probably you need to go for a reset.

@DELL-Joey C How about when the panel will not let you access the menu without entering a PIN? Your documentation says this is not supposed to happen , but that's exactly what we're seeing. What now?

Sux2bUatDell,
You should be able to reset the system back to factory and get access. You can find the details on the factory reset on page 64 here.
Let me know how it goes and if this helps.

@DELL-Chris H Unfortunately, no. We cannot access the Configuration menu to go to Reset. When you first hit Enter on the panel, it wants a PIN, and will not let us any further without that PIN. It will not accept the PIN that was set, and it will not accept 0000. It also will not accept any password, for any user. Is there any other way to perform a reset when you cannot access the Reset part of the menu?

I know you said it was asking for the pin on the panel, but are you able to perform the reset via the control panel, as laid out here under Access Recovery of the ML3 via the front LCD?

I have the same problem. I'm unable to access ML3 via browser. When I reset password via LCD panel this gave me the temporary password for Administrator but password not working

Hello,
I'm sure you may have done these steps, I just want to check.
Have you tried clearing the browser cache?
Have you tried different browsers:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Microsoft Edge
Safari
Try the steps in this article: How to change PIN or Access Recovery on a ML3 Tape Library:
Scroll down to Access Recovery of the ML3 via the front LCD.

After use access recovery, please try lower case administrator; not Administrator for login.
