Dell MD3000i array hot spare in awkward slot
I have all slots occupied with 14 forming a RAID 6 virtual disk and one hot spare. The hot spare is currently in slot 10. It there any command or action that I can use to exchange the role of the disks in slot 10 and 15 so the disk in slot 15 becomes the hot spare and the one in slot 10 is part of the array?

Hi,
I don't think there is any command to swap the drives, except to offline drive 15 and let drive 10 rebuild the RAID, then set drive 15 as hot spare after the rebuild is done. I don't recommend this action as the RAID is working and data is accessible. While doing rebuilds, there are risks.
