at the same time 4 disk failed md3220i no response at start-of-day
Good day everyone,
The unit has diskgroup with 9 SSD in rad 6 with one hotspare standby, this morning 4 disk failed and the log registered this message for each one
Physical disk failed - no response at start-of-day
And status in MD manager says:
status: unresponsive
Is very rare that all 4 disk failed same time and the hotspare did not takeover neither, appreaciate any help to try to solve this.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have a chance to remove those failed ssds and test them individually on another station?

I've had this happen before on a SAN where three drives failed but the disks weren't actually bad. It was a software bug, and support was able to recreate the raid array and come back up.
Do you have current support from Dell? If so definitely log a support ticket.

Hello everyone,
Same thing happened. This morning 4 SSD became unresponsive all of a sudden.
Have you solved the issue in any way ?
Thanks

Hello geneda,
What is your current version of controller firmware on your MD? What is your current version of hdd/ ssd firmware? Did you have a power outage recently?

Hello,
Thank you for you answers!
The article states that "Upgrading the drive firmware to version D417 (or newer) prior to 40,000 power-on hours should address this issue." and "If the drive has already failed due to this issue or additional help is required, please contact support."
On the PowerVault I can't upgrade the firmware since the disks are unavailable and won't show in MDSM Disk Firwmare upgrade window.
I've tried installing a disk on a PE R720 and upgrading it with DSU, but the app won't upgrade it: "No Applicable Updates Available".
Command "dsu --inventory" shows "( Version : )" where the disk is located, although iDrac identifies the product as LT0800MO with firware revision D40Z.
Thank you!

Hello geneda,
In your case since the drive is not able to be upgraded you would need to replace the drives. If your system still has a service contract, then you can call into support and we can replace them.
