Adding lto-8 drive to powervault TL4000
Hello.
I just got hold of a TL4000 tape library, and would like to use it to archive my data to tape. I've decided to use lto8 tape, because I need the storage density it offers, and also, I don't want to invest into older tape technology.
The tl4000 I have doesn't have any tape drives in it.
So my question is, would I be able to buy any half height LTO 8 drive upgrade kit from IBM or HPE and put it in my TL4000 and it would work?
Like this drive?
Also, can I buy an internal drive like this IBM one that's not on a sled, and then put it in a sled like this lto3 sled for the TL4000 and then install it? Would that work?

Hello DeS_02,
Thank you for choosing Dell.
I've checked links, you sent. I am not sure about drives, because I've checked documentation and didn't find these drives. Regarding Sled, it is сompatible with TL4000:
Dell Part Number NW720 IBM Vendor Part Number 95P5963
It would be great, if you could send me in Private Message Service Tag of TL4000, I would like to check supported drives one more time with Service Tag.
How to locate the Service Tag:

You can also check Compatibly Matrix for your PowerVault TL4000 here:

Please ask me if you have any questions.
