Adding an ME424 Expansion enclosure to a live ME4024
I'm planning to connect a new ME424 enclosure to a ME4024 controller already in production.
Documents are not very detailed regarding this basic action. Cabling is clear, but the process not.
In https://cdn.cnetcontent.com/syndication/mediaserverredirect/56dd3fe9e6b13bab1b4ca2010b34d29c/original.pdf there's this text: ME4 Series Storage System enclosures support hot-plug replacement of redundant controller modules, power supplies, and expansion modules. Hot-add replacement of expansion enclosures is also supported. But this text does not clarifies if hot-add enclosures is supported (not the same as hot-add replacement I think)
In the dell support site there's this note: NOTE To add expansion enclosures to an existing storage system, power down the controller enclosure before connecting the expansion enclosures.
Do I have to fully shut down the main controller to add an expansion enclousre?? Very strange to me ...
Thanks in advance for any guidance regarding this subject.

Hello,
The manual wants you to be on the safest side, and I think that's why it recommends power off.
We would also need to hear what others think as well but my person opinion would also be if you could just perform one by one, not both together (but make sure it's configured redundant) I think it would be okay. But again, keep that in mind what the article says. Wish you a good one.
