Add new disks - ME4024
Hello guys,
Before anything, thanks for your time. I'll be waiting and happy to receive your tips. Follow my question.
In our environment, we're planning to add more disks to our storage ME4024.
Today, the storage has an usable area of 4TB. We're occuping 3.4TB. In our configuration, we have just a volume of 4TB, totally focused to our database. When we add more disks, will we be able to expand the existent volume or will we need to create an other volume? How can we procede?
Best regards,
Josué

Hey @josue.lima,
Thank you for your message.
Let's see, for a PowerVault ME4024 it all depend of the kind of pools you have. If you are using linier pools, then you can add space to your pool. If you are using virtual pools, then you can’t expand & will need to remove the data & then create the size of the pool and restore the data back to the pool.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, @DiegoLopez.
I'm glad to receive your answer.
What's the difference between linear and virtual pools? Today, we have a virtual pool SSD with 6 disks + 1 hot spare. If we change to linear pool, what's the impact of this change? What's the benefits? Is it a correct decision? What do you recommend?
Best regards,
Josué
