Thin clone promotion
The Dell White Paper on Thin Clones (https://infohub.delltechnologies.com/en-US/l/dell-powerstore-snapshots-and-thin-clones/thin-clone-overview-2/) says that thin clones "allow development personnel to promote a test thin clone to production". What does that mean, exactly?

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
It means that you can take the thin clone out of a test area and use it in production.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.

I'm not sure what the difference is between a "test thin clone" and a "production thin clone". Since they're thin clones the primary data is still pointing to the parent volume. Or does "promoting" a thin clone result in an actual copy of the primary data (along with the changes)? If not, then in what sense are developers "allowed" to "promote" thin clones?
