Question about PowerStore 500T Disk Expansion (FIPS / Non-FIPS mix)
Hello,
I am currently using a PowerStore 500T system. The current configuration consists of seven 3.84TB FIPS NVMe SSDs.
I am planning to expand the system by adding ten additional 3.84TB drives, bringing the total to 17 drives. For the additional drives, I am considering using five FIPS drives and five Non-FIPS drives.
I would like to know if this type of mixed configuration (FIPS + Non-FIPS) is supported when expanding disks.
Also, are there any specific situations or restrictions where FIPS and Non-FIPS drives cannot be used together in a PowerStore appliance?
Any guidance or experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello frey_ksg,
You will need to add the same type of drives into your system. If you add non-FIPS drives into your system then you will need to open a support case so that we can ensure that your Powerstore will not have any issues. Here is a link to a KB that explains how to add drives to your Powerstore 500T. https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000296002/powerstore-000296002?lang=en
