Powerstore 500T - appliance re-initialization
hello everyone,
we currently have two separate powerstore 500T appliances, both with OS 4.1.0.1 LTS installed, and both are initialized in block mode; both appliances have the volumes configured for metro active-active replication (+ witness).
I would need to understand something that is not clear in the documentation:
would it be possible to initialize one appliance in Unified mode, so that it can manage volumes and NAS shares (block+file), and later reactivate the metro mode to synchronize the block volumes with the other powerstore appliance that remains in block configuration?

Yes, mixing unified and block is allowed. Page 10 https://www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-us/products/storage/industry-market/h18157-dell-powerstore-clustering-high-availability.pdf

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
It probably would be best to remove the metro volume, and create a new one after. https://infohub.delltechnologies.com/en-us/t/dell-powerstore-metro-volume-1/

Hello @DELL-Josh Cr
but this is already inherent in the re-initialization of the appliance, right?
I mean, after the re-initialization it will lose all the configuration, including any data that may be on the volumes, as if it were a true factory reset.
My question rather was this:
Can a powerstore 500T appliance, initialized in unified mode (block + file), handle block volumes and configure them as metro volumes with another identical appliance, but initialized only block?
