Metro Node Metavolume configuration with only WAN connection between sites
When configuring a Metronode Cluster, we need 4x 80GB Metavolumes and 2x Logging Volumes, each from 2 different storage arrays for each cluster. Normally, when we have 2 Powerstores connected to the same FC fabrics stretched across both sites this is not a problem. We just zone the Backend paths of Cluster-1 and Cluster-2 to both Powerstores. Each Powerstore has 2 host groups (Cluster-1 and Cluster-2), and each host group has 3 volumes for Metavolumes and logging.
But what do you do when there is only Ethernet WAN between both sites? Site 1 has 2 FC Fabrics, and Site 2 also has 2 FC Fabrics, but these are not interconnected. There is only a WAN connection, and the metronodes use this WAN for replicating the data. I have no way of zoning Cluster-1 to the Powerstore in Site 2 as there is no FC connection. Do I need to have a second storage array at each site?
With VPLEX, WAN COM was nearly always FC, so there was always an FC connnection between both sites. But Metronode only uses IP for WAN COM.
Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.
