New PowerStore hardware model - PowerStore 3200Q
Here are some key highlights of the new PowerStore 3200Q:
- Supports new lower-cost QLC media, the latest in NAND technology
- Identical enterprise features as current PowerStore models, runs same OS
- Start small - Initial configurations as small as 11 drives that make it less expensive to start
- Scale-up with one drive at a time
- Mix/match scale-out with any PowerStore model (T or Q) - Up to four PowerStore appliances in a cluster
- Seamless load balancing helps customers optimize cost/performance for every workload.
- No mixing QLC and TLC drives within a single appliance
CPU per Appliance --> 4 Intel CPUs, 64 cores, 2.1 GHz
Memory per Appliance --> 768GB
NVRAM drives per Appliance --> 2
Supported Drives --> NVME QLC SSD
Max Storage Drives per Appliance --> 93
Network Support --> 100Gb/25GbE, 32Gb FC
What is QLC and how does it differ from what’s in PowerStore T models?
QLC (Quad-Level Cell) and TLC (Triple-Level Cell) are both types of storage used in NVMe solid-state drives. They differ primarily in their ability to store multiple bits of data per cell. Because QLC allows for more bits per cell, fewer flash memory cells are required for similar capacities allowing for a lower cost per gigabyte compared to TLC and other types of SSDs
