What's the process of going from a temporary Powerpath license key to a new active license?
What's the process and is there any down time involved?

I would contact your EMC team, they can help your procure permanent licenses.

Sorry ..i think I mis-read. Enter new key, remove old key and set correct PowerPath policy based on what storage is being managed. Should be able to do everything online.

What O/S are you using? For UNIX Servers, use the emcpreg –install command. For Windows Servers, use Start > Programs > EMC > PowerPath Licensing Tool.
You can make this change online, but you will need to reboot for the license to take effect. See Primus article emc135527 for more details.
