Powerpath upgrade from 5.5 P 01 (build 2) to PowerPath 6.0 P02
Hello,
I have an upgrade scheduled from 5.5 P01 to 6.0 P02 (Solaris 10). What I understand is that I have to remove the previous version and install the new version. The server has two zones and the storage is mapped directly to the zones. So before attempting I will shutdown the zones.
Is there any reboot required? ( no boot from SAN )
Any files needs to take as a backup ?
Cheers,

G'day. You will find details of the PowerPath configuration checker at https://support.emc.com/products/1767_PowerPath-for-Solaris/Documentation/ . Download the checker from here https://support.emc.com/search/?text=powerpath%20configuration%20checker&resource=ST&searchLang=en_US and run it against an emcgrab from the host you are going to upgrade. It will highlight any possible problems.
PowerPath has modules that link into kernel and user space. Always run an emcgrab and save the output file before performing any upgrades to a host that is connected to a DellEMC array or on a host that uses any DellEMC software packages. That will give you a reference point to "what was" before the upgrade. Perform your usual backup procedures so that you have a fallback position if there are any problems during or after the upgrade.
If your host is using ZFS export the pools before removing PowerPath vn 5 - see the section in the PP installation guide on PowerPath interoperability with ZFS file systems.
Reboot the host after the installation completes. If any problems occur run another emcgrab, open an SR and attach the emcgrab taken prior to the upgrade and the emcgrab taken after the apgrade to the SR. We will help you troubleshoot and fix the problems.
Good luck....ian
