Powerpath R1/R2 Failover Boot Support for ZFS
So, we have a bunch of Solaris (SPARC) boxes. The servers are paired between our primary and DR sites. Storage is DMX-4's, replicating synchronously between primary and DR site. At the primary site the production server is all storage on DMX-4, SAN boot. At the DR site we have an identical server, hardware-wise, that is used for test/dev, uses local server storage for boot, may have one or more LUNs on the DR DMX-4 (stds). Use "powercf -Z" on the production host. For DR event, we failover to the R2s, point the DR server at the R2s and boot up, coming up the IP/hostname of the production server. Kind of a poor man's cluster, but it works like a champ. All filesystems are UFS, emcpower devices in vfstab. Some of the pairs use Emulex (lpfc), for Solaris 10 we are using Leadville drivers.
So, if you look in the PowerPath Installation Guide, great instructions on how to configure what I described above.
So, now we want to try and do something similar using root device, SAN boot, but ZFS. No configuration instructions in the PowerPath literature. I also have an SR open. Just wondering if anyone has tried to go in this direction.
So, from a network standpoint, both servers are on the same subnet, extended-campus solution between the two site.

Hello. Are you asking if you can use ZFS for the root file system? Please contact me directly.
Thanks, Brion
