Powerpath question
hi
Does any one know how to free up emcpower devices, let me explain
I have a solaris server with 50 powerpath devices from 0 to 49, i unmasked some devices (five devices) those devices in powerpath became to dead, i ran the powermt check and clean powerpath, but if i take a look at inq list i have the output as follows
emcpower0
emcpower1
emcpower7
..
..
..
emcpower49
if you see from emcpower2 to emcpower6 there is a gap and if i mask new devices and reconfigure powerpath those new powerpath devices start at emcpower50 emcpower51 and so on,
if i use this command to get the used powerpath devices emcpadm getusedpseudos i see that those device are still used but those devices dont exist anymore on the server
how can i do to get free those emcpowers and when i mask new devices use those emcpower (emcpower2, emcpower3, emcpower4 , emcpower5 and emcpower6
Best regards

I am not sure if you are still looking for the answer on how to free up the used emcpower# that are no longer in use, either way the method to recover these names for use is 'powermt release'.
The PowerPath CLI and system message reference and KB11752 explain the use of powermt release
Description - powermt release releases PowerPath pseudo device (emcpower) names for later reuse. Run powermt release when, after numerous reconfigurations (adding and removing LUNs), the Linux host and PowerPath can discover all devices, but PowerPath has run out of emcpower names to use for devices
