PowerPath does not pring the second path up after failover

Hello ,

i was trying to simulate a failover test on an AIX machine, i removed one cabel for few minutes, then replug it again , the server can not detect the second path till we ran powermt config. running powermt display shows the second path as "FAILED" till reconfig PP.The question is why do i need to run powermt config? it should be detected automatically without interaction ,right ? am running the latest PP version!
