Need ODM for AIX using EMC Unity disk?

Hi all,

We're setting up an IBM Power Server running AIX 7.3,  using SAN boot from LUN on Unity.

Using native MPIO driver, can see the disk paths:

hdisk25  0        Enabled  Clo          fscsi0  5006016d49e052e7,19000000000000

hdisk25  1        Enabled  Clo          fscsi0  5006016649e052e7,19000000000000

hdisk25  2        Enabled  Clo          fscsi1  5006016549e052e7,19000000000000

hdisk25  3        Enabled  Clo          fscsi1  5006016e49e052e7,19000000000000

while disks are recognized as "other" disk:

# lsdev -Cc disk

hdisk0  Available 21-T0-01 MPIO Other FC SCSI Disk Drive

...

The latest (?) version of ODM is 6.3.0.1 which supports up to AIX 7.2.

I wonder if it's a must to install ODM ?

Would anyone please advise?
