HPUX 11.23 - slow boot after installing PP5.1.0+SP1

Hi

I just upgraded powerpath on my HPUX 11.23 server to the latest version 5.1.9 and the Service pack and after install the server took about 90 minutes to boot, the normal boot time is usually about 8minutes. During the boot process it sat running vxconfigd for a very long time but I can not find a single error in either console or system event logs to indicate why this happened. We do have veritas installed but only use it for the local root disk, all our clariion disks are configured with LVM.

Any ideas??.

TIA

did u install EMCPower.HPUX.PI.5.1.0.GA.b160.tar.gz and EMCPower.HPUX.PI.5.1.SP1.GA.b019.tar.gz? You should use the PI one for 11.23 and 11.31.

Yes, I installed

EMCPower.HPUX.PI.5.1.0.GA.b160.tar.gz
EMCPower.HPUX.PI.5.1.SP1.GA.b019.tar.gz

For an HPUX 11.23 server.

Cheers

Hi Steph,

I have come across a previous case similar to this, PowerPath engineering are currently investigating. I would advise to open a service request with the Support Center and quote Primus solution emc205949

Did u check with EMC if the downgrade preserve all settings (including the cxtydz device names) similar to a upgrade operation? You may need not to downgrade if there is no peformance issue after the boot up. Just to clarify about that option.
