Can Powerpath an MPIO co-exist - (rootvg MPIO / datavg powerpath)

Can powerapth and mpio co-exist on the same system. We have SAN boot ( rootvg on SAN). we don't want to pprotdev the rootvg. want to run mpio on rootvg and powrerpath on data drives. Can it be done.

I'm going to say that it probably can be done but not recommended.

Not advisable to mix multiupathing software on the same 'class' of devices (i.e. have two typoes of multipathing on EMC devices as opposed to say MPIO on IBM devices and PP on EMC devices which is fine.

PowerPath and MPIO can only co-exist when managing different types of array. If you are booting off the SAN and your data storage is on the same array as your rootvg then what you suggest is not recommended.

If you could provide more detail on why you don't want to use PowerPath for rootvg someone might be able to provide some additional detail that could help.
