Why is the value of used + free capaicty in protection domain different from total capacity?
Hello,
I'm looking at the PFxM Dashboard and have a question.
Why does the used capacity + free capacity value in the Protection Domain not match the Total Capacity value?
If spare capacity or another value is reserved, what is the field name?
It would be great if you could link to the official documentation that I can refer to.
Thank you.

Hello mryong,
Which powerflex system do you have and what is your current powerflex software version?

@DELL-Sam L
I have a system consisting of 3 PowerFlex appliance R750 S, SW version is 4.6.0.1.
I went through the documentation and couldn't figure out the following.
When I look at the Protection Domain, the Capacity is displayed as follows.
Total Capacity - 41.87TB
Used Capacity - 416.23GB
Free Capacity - 13.62 TB
I would normally assume that Total Capacity is the sum of Used and Free Capacity, but I'm wondering why it doesn't match.
It would be helpful if you could provide some technical documentation on the above.
Thank you.

I have yet to find anything that documents the calculations, starting with the drives per node to the available space for the cluster.

@mryong
Hello,
Total Capacity is the RAW capacity on all Storage nodes.
Both Used and Free capacity fields are Usable - that's why the numbers doesn't match.
Remember PowerFlex mirrors all data.
