Unable to find any SDC install file.

hi,

I sucessfully registered the plugin etc with vCentre6, but when I selected the option "Install SDC on ESX" I got a message saying "Unable to find any SDC install file."

The log file entries show as;

[2015-06-24 15:29:06.599] [INFO] http-bio-9443-exec-1    com.emc.ecs.vSpherePlugin.remoteServices.ssh.EsxSshServiceImpl getPluginZipFolder()

[2015-06-24 15:29:06.599] [INFO] http-bio-9443-exec-1    com.emc.ecs.vSpherePlugin.remoteServices.ssh.EsxSshServiceImpl Plugin zip folder path is C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client\vc-packages\vsphere-client-serenity

[2015-06-24 15:29:06.599] [DEBUG] http-bio-9443-exec-1    com.emc.ecs.vSpherePlugin.remoteServices.ssh.EsxSshServiceImpl Check whether needed VIB already exists on vSphere web client server in the following location: C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client\vc-packages\vsphere-client-serenity

[2015-06-24 15:29:06.600] [DEBUG] http-bio-9443-exec-1    com.emc.ecs.vSpherePlugin.remoteServices.ssh.EsxSshServiceImpl The VIB still does not exist on vSphere Web Client Server in C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client\vc-packages\vsphere-client-serenity

I was able to get around the issue by;

esxcli software acceptance set --level=PartnerSupported

esxcli software vib install -d sdc-1.32.343.0-esx6.0.zip

but what do I manually need to upload to where and in what format to fix this issue?

cheers

Ashley

Are you using post GA vCenter version?

thanks Alex,

We are running. vCentre version 6.0.0 build 2656760. which is the 6.0.0a release dated the 16th April (vcentre for windows);

https://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere6/doc/vsphere-vcenter-server-600a-release-notes.html

Is there a way of fixing the "Unable to find any SDC install file" error?

cheers

It seems like VMware changed their directories layout which causes issues when installing ScaleIO web plugin.

We are currently working on this issue, the workaround is to install the previous vCenter version (6.0.0 GA)

thanks Alex, glad to know it wasn't anything we'd done.

We can't move back to the original 6.0.0.ga release (as we are on a later release) and we are currently working with VMware to try to resolve serious performance releases with vcentre at the moment (they weren't there in 5.5, but were there in the orignal ga release).

cheers

Ashley
