ScaleIO 1.32 ESXi requirements clarification
Hi.
IHAC that already has a ScaleIO environment with 3 linux physical servers (MDM, SDC, SDS, GW and LIA installed). They want now to scale their environment including VMware ESXi servers. The minimum number of ESXi servers to add for initial configuration is 3? And also the 3 required devices have to be from one ESXi server or can be from the 3 ESXi servers (one device from each ESXi)?
Thanks!
Caio

Hello Caio,
3 Linux physical servers running ScaleIO is what is considered a Proof Of Concept, we recommend a minimum of 8 nodes for a production setup. Each node would need to be installed on a separate ESXi server. Total of 5 ESXi servers to get to our recommended 8 node production configuration.
The following you will want to keep in mind;
1) If the ESXi servers are new and have never been configured you will want to insure that the vmKernel NICs are configured for network communication before installing ScaleIO.
2) On new ESXi hosts, the ScaleIO OVA is pushed out to each server, you will want to install a new VM on the ESXi host for access to the ScaleIO volume.
3) Remember that you will want to keep like disks together for storage pools.
