windows server 2019 + media driver is missing,
Hi,
I am trying to install windows server 2019 via the Deploy OS wizard in the startup. However,
- Warning: OS Media Validation basically says that the source I have is not the correct one. but I've downloaded it from Microsoft azure platform. I simply click yes. and it boots from my USB and windows starts to install. However,
- A dialog opens and says that "A media driver your computer needs is missing, ..."
I've checked all the proposed solution in dell's forums (download the driver pack, create raid-0, ...), still the same error.
**PowerEdge T140
**a single 1T HDD with Dell EMC brand name on it. It's attached to a RAID controller I think (an extension card to pci-e in mainboard)
**en_windows_server_2019_updated_sept_2019_x64_dvd_199664ce.iso
Here does not allow me to upload the images of the warning and error.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hello @hosseinfani,
Good to see you back in the Dell Community!
First, please, make sure you are trying to install Windows Server 2019 LTSC. As you can check here is the only WS 2019 version supported for the PowerEdge T140: https://dell.to/2NqUf0I
Second, make sure you have the latest OS driver pack version. It is the 20.08.09, A00. You can download the latest one from here: https://dell.to/3jPqoLq If you need help to proceed with this update. Please, let me know.
Then make sure to follow this steps: Install Windows Server 2019 by using Dell EMC Lifecycle Controller: https://dell.to/3akVUOk
Alternatively, you can try Installing Windows Server 2019 OS in UEFI mode - using Dell Lifecycle Controller. This video will show you how: https://dell.to/3jRZ1R4
Hope this helps. Any other question please don't hesitate to ask.
Regards.

Hello Diego,
Thank you for your reply.
First, the LTSC version is just about the service support (Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC)). It is not a version of the OS product line. As a result, it's incorrect that DELL's support depends on a policy version of a software/os! Also, in the menu inside the Lifecycle Controller, it has no LTSC version. It has simply "Windows Server 2019".
Second, I download the update. Still, was unsuccessful to detect the controller.
Third, as I said, I am using the lifecycle controller.
Presently, we had great progress with a help of Sunil (a great Dell Technician). Seems, the main problem is with the controller. The workaround is this:
1) We removed the raid config and make the hard disk as normal.
2) We mapped the .iso file of the os from my laptop via iDRAC.
3) We boot up using my bootable flash. (I am not sure this is step is necessary)
Now, I am installing the os (4%). Hope it finishes successfully.
But the problem persists: that is the PERC H330 Cotroller's driver does not exist yet for windows server 2019. Sunil, the great Dell Technician :), is trying to find it.
Will update this post.

If it's the same issue I had (and it sounds like it) then you need the SAS drivers (even though you're using SATA drives).
Sorry I can't be sure but for my T140 it was: Windows Server 2019 64bit driver for PERC S140 Controller
I got it from here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk/product-support/product/poweredge-t140/drivers
No need for anything fancy after that - installs from the built in optical drive etc.

I'd like to add to MobTec's response.
So the heart of the issue is that Windows Server comes packed with PERC RAID drivers for the hardware based ones, not the software based ones, as of yet.
What you need to do is search out the latest perc driver for your server. For this T140 server, it's the one that MobTec listed. When you find your driver, click the down arrow to expand the window and see more info/details.
Click on the option "view full driver details".
From there, download the ZipPack.
Extract the ZipPack into a folder and put that folder on a usb stick that's formatted in FAT32.
Now attempt to install Windows Server. When you get the error that the media driver is missing, browse to the folder on your usb stick and leave the box checked to "hide drivers that aren't compatible". There should now only be one driver to pick from.
Install it and you should be able to finish installing the OS.

Thank you @MobTec, you made my day. Just created an account to say that. I was having the same issue but with a different server (Dell PowerEdge R240 with PERC S140)
