R900 riser bank d voltage error

Got the rsr bank d voltage out of whack error after machine runs a while .

I n reset it and reboot and it.comes back after machine is.on for 1/2 to 1 hr

I swapped the bank c and d risers and got same error again in bank.d.

So.I assume this means the motherboard.is bad?

Hi, this model has a memory riser. You would need to swap that with another one.

No your wrong. If that was the case swapping he two banks would have causes the error to move with the bad riser. It didn't. It stayed with bank.d.

Hi @lgkahn,

Would like to confirm, you mentioned you have swapped Bank C and D, but the issue follows the mainboard, slot D?

If the issue follows the slot on mainboard, then the mainboard slot might be faulty. If the issue follows the Riser, then it is the Riser issue, as you predicted. But have you made sure that the server's firmware are up to date? Also, can you try swapping CPU also.

Yes swapped position of risers c and d and it continues as error in slot d. Swap which cpus, as it is a pain and easy to bend pins.. I have all 4 populated? Thanks.

Hello, it's more likely that the motherboard is faulty, so I would suspect the first motherboard. I can understand if you are hesitant to change the processor, please don't do it because we don't want the pins to be damaged. In general, processors are also not a problem statistically, but sometimes they can also be a problem. But in such problems, the priority can often be considered as the motherboard or the Riser itself.

Lgkahn,

The video was likely removed due to the age of the server, as support dropped off around 10/11th generations. All I am finding is what is included in the manual.

thanks .. status update..

the biggest issue was how to get the bar with th rear expansion card guides out.. said there was a a switch to remove it.. it was a black push down lever on each side in fron of the bar towards the rear of the server.

Once i got that out i was able to remove the board.. took out old board put on desk and wouln't you know murphy visited and it fell of the desk with no one even near it (it is huge) and one of the 4 cpus fell out (weird) as it should have been in the socket better. And the pns were bent and ther is no fixing that.

Got a new cpu from ebay ... same stepping . and reseated all cpus with new silver gunk.

new board with new cpus works fine.. I did have to use the clear CMOS jumper as it would not boot at first. bio check would hang about 1/5 of the way across under the W..

anyway thanks again.. system is running again. even though it is only my backup mail server ..
