R720/iDRAC7 racadm firmware update from bootable ISO

Hello!

I would like to do a racadm update from the bootable ISO repository.

Therefore I have copied the repository folder to a local server and made a CIFS share.

Once I execute the command in Windows CMD I get the message that the update job has been started.

racadm update -f Catalog.xml -l //192.168.0.123/repository -u xxx -p xxx -a TRUE -t CIFS

But when I look then into the job status it is failed due to RED060 Catalog not supported.

In our environment we cannot have the Repository Manager and have to use the ISO and we would like to avoid doing the update via rebooting the server from the ISO. Goal should be to automate the updates for several servers via racadm.

Is it even possible? If yes, how?

Thanks,
Felix

FelixMindBreeze,

Unfortunately that won't work, the reason being is that the bootable ISO uses .BIN files to run in the bootable ISO linux, where as the iDRAC only supports .EXE for files copied directly to it. Also on a side note, most of the firmware updates will require rebooting the platform anyway, so you may want to look at scheduling a maintenance window and just booting off the ISO.

Let me know if this helps.
