PowerEdge R740 Server will not power on

The server has a blinking amber indicator. The panel says High Current Fault, Power supply

I can't log into this server at all. I replaced both Power Supplies from a known good unit that is not used.

Same exact issues and errors.

Is there a troubleshooting manual for these servers?

I cant get service for 3 days and we need this server bad.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Ernie

Hi,

This is a weird error message, I've not seen such error before. Could you provide more information as in if there is an error code or probably a picture of the LCD panel you have mentioned. Where is the blinking amber, is it on the power button or the front LCD bezel; https://dell.to/4hDUaQJ

Can you provide me the power supply DPN#.

Have you checked the power cables from the wall socket to the power supply, have you tried with other cables.

So far, what are the hardware changes to the server that lead to this issue? Is this server been working before this error?

Can you try to remove all components except for these below. Then try to turn on the server:

  • One processor (CPU) in socket processor 1
  • One memory module (DIMM) in socket A1
  • One power supply unit
  • Right control panel and cable (for power button functionality)
  • System board
