iDRAC 9 - DNS iDRAC name change

I need the DNS iDRAC name to update automatically. (under iDRAC settings -> Connectivity -> Common Settings-DNS iDRAC Name*)

I can edit the DNS iDRAC name, but want it to pull the name automatically from DNS.  The Auto Config Domain Name is enabled.

These steps have been completed.

Enable Register iDRAC on DNS by selecting it.
...
  1. In iDRAC Web interface, go to iDRAC Settings > Connectivity > Network > Common Settings.
  2. Set Register iDRAC on DNS to Enabled.
  3. Provide a DNS iDRAC Name.
  4. Provide a valid Static DNS Domain Name.
  5. Click Apply.

The machine is running iDRAC Firmware Version 5.10.50.15

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

There is no option to pull "DNS iDRAC Name" from DNS server. It need to be configured on iDRAC. You can pull DNS IP and domain name from DHCP server.

Hello johdav432,

I want to confirm; are these the steps you are following?

What result do you get from your configuration?
Do you get any error messages?

Hi Charles...

Yes, I'm using the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 9
User's Guide to configure the iDRAC settings.

I don't receive any errors and I'm able to edit the iDRAC DNS name field. I need the iDRAC DNS name field to auto populate from DNS so I don't have to enter it for hundreds of servers manually.

If you would like to see any of the settings I can attach a pic. Screenshot 2022-10-27 111709.jpg

Any help or info is greatly appreciated.
