Dell R710 sATA drive on R710 DVD allocation.
Hi, all.
Because I don´t need optical drive, I've decided to install a sATA drive in this allocation for backup purposes.
Connection cable is the same than DVD drive (power supply connector with red/black cables and blue Sata on board connector).
1) Is mandatory to keep on connected a Perc 6/i controller (or others) for working with this disk? Because I'm using a new Adaptec controller for managing 6x3 Gb drives, Perc is not connected. I can´t see the disk for working with it.
2) Shall I get +12v. applied to that disk for working? I thouht I saw this disk on Bios setup menu, but never can operate...
I'm so worried about point 1), I don´t want to change the new controller by original Perc 6/i. I could install it again, but without connecting backpanel cables.
Any suggestions, please?
Kind regards,
ADG
