Dell PowerEdge R250 PERC S150 - Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Desktop

My company recently purchased PowerEdge R250's in place of R340's. I am having a problem with installing Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop.  The Ubuntu install is not recognizing the configured Raid 1 drive.

I installed the latest updates and BIOS 1.3.3 updates for the R250

I I have done 20 installs using Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop on the PowerEdge R340 with the PERC S140 controller without any issues.  The difference I believe here is the drivers for the PERC S150 that is installed in the R250.

In testing  I attempted installs of Ubuntu 20.04 & 22.04 LTS Server as well as Ubuntu 20.04 & 22.04 LTS Desktop.  All were unsuccessful in recognizing the Raid properly.   Ubuntu 20.04 Server and Desktop did not recognize the drive at all.  Ubuntu 22.04 recognized the drive and installed but upon the reboot the PowerEdge Health Utility indicated errors with the HDD Controller.

I don't see anything on the Ubuntu forums related the issue as it may be to specific to the R250 PERC S150.   I am assuming it is a an OS driver issue.  Is there an Ubuntu driver that works with the PERC S150?   Anyone have success installing Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop on the R250 with the PERC 1150?

BillMagill,

The issue you are seeing is due to controller not being supported on the OS, as seen on the very bottom right of page 5 here, the S150/S140 are not supported by 20.04. So I would recommend changing to a hardware controller, or a different OS.

Let me know if this helps.
