Dell PowerEdge 2950 what generation?
Greetings,
I've recently been given a Dell PowerEdge 2950 model EMS01 (manufactured 03/15/07) and have not booted it up or fully tested it just yet. I do know it has only one (1) dual-core Intel Xeon SL9RX 2.00GHz/4M/1333 with the one heatsink and the other socket looks to just have been empty without use. I believe it has eight (8) 512MB RAM sticks giving it at the moment 4GB of RAM as well.
What I need to know:
Apparently there are 3 generations of this server and I'd like to figure out exactly what my model is so I can properly upgrade it to the max. It is missing the front panel I guess and I see six (6) HDD bays with one (1) DVD drive on the front as we'll as two (2) USB ports and a VGA out.
I don't want to look into buying any parts to upgrade it just yet because I can't figure out exactly what generation this is and other sources online are just confusing me so I need more of a concrete answer from people who know and can assist me on how to figure the exact generation out.
Any questions please let me know. Thanks.
