Blue screen after selecting language while trying to install Windows server 2019 on PowerEdge R740

Hi

I'm trying to install windows server 2019 standard edition on my new PowerEdge R740 but after I select the language I get a blue screen saying IRQL_NOT_ OR_ LESS_ EQUAL ( Attached ) .

The weird thing is I have tried and succeed to install Windows server 2019 on this server a few days ago ( Probably a different build ) . Maybe it is something related to hardware compatibility with the build I'm trying to install now .(I couldn't use the previous installed build due to licensing stuff) . Now I have build that is specific for PowerEdge DELL EMC (Windows server 2019 products (16 cores) RESSELER OPTION KIT .

I performed hardware diagnostics which didn't raise any issues . I couldn't perform any firmware updates as I don't have OS installed and this server can not be connected to the network .

Anything else I can do ?

Thx .

I tried the same one this morning and it worked . No idea why and how but it did .I didn't perform any changes other than creating the RAID configuration from scratch

Thx.

Hi NoamAS,

You can update firmware by download the update packages and putting them on a USB stick, page 31 https://dell.to/3spQ0mf

As for the Windows error, are there any usb devices connected?

There are a few USB devices connected.

Mouse

Keyboard

Usb stick/ external DVD doe the installation .

It was fine before so I'm not sure what's wrong .

All I can find is EXE files in DELL's website and it seems I can't install them , which make sense as I'm trying to do it using Life cycle and I don't have any Os installed ATM

Hello,

if it was fine with the other Windows version and now you have some issue, i think probably the issue is related to the Windows version or Windows installation media.

Can you try another one? Or another OS?
Thanks
Marco

I was able to fix this by downloading the older Drivers for OS Deployment for Server 2019 dated 9-29-2020 and installing in the iDrac, I had problems when I used the newer version from 3-11-2021.  After installation, if I downloaded and installed the Intel Chipset driver from the Support site, my system started to Blue Screen again, so I tried the DSU Utility and ran it on the server, it updated all the drivers and after fighting this for 3 days, I am stable and running fine.
