UEFI0116 error in dell emc R430(uabntu os)

Hey,

We are getting the UEFI0116 error in the Dell EMC R430, and two amber lights are blinking in the rack server. I have restarted the server and pressed F10 to get into the system boot menu, but that thing is not working.  Our server went in the boot loop. For more information, please check the attached image.

One more piece of information: I would like to add that I am getting "PDR 1001 FAULT DETECTED ON DRIVER 4 IN DISC DRIVE BAY 1" in the small LCD panel of the rack server.

Hi,

I’ve seen this issue pop up a few times on R430s. The UEFI0116 error usually means one or more boot drivers are reporting problems through the UEFI Driver Health Protocol. It’s often tied to:

  • Failing or degraded disk drives
  • Improper shutdowns or power loss

The PDR1001 fault you're seeing on the LCD is a predictive failure on Drive 4 in Bay 1. That drive has likely hit a SMART threshold and needs to be replaced. If it's part of a RAID array, the rebuild should kick off automatically once you swap it with a Dell-certified replacement. If not, you might need to manually assign it as a hot spare.

Also, the two amber lights blinking usually point to drive or system health issues. Definitely worth checking the drive LEDs and system logs via iDRAC if you can get in.

Before doing anything else, try a flea power drain:

  1. Power off the server
  2. Unplug power and network cables
  3. Hold the power button for ~20 seconds
  4. Wait 3 minutes
  5. Plug everything back in, wait 2 minutes, then power on

If you can get into BIOS (F2), make sure the boot mode is set to UEFI, not Legacy BIOS. Sometimes it flips after a fault or firmware update.

Hope that helps!

@DELL-Erman O Thanks, If we replace the drive, the data will be intact, or we may lose stored data on it.

Hello,

it depend on which RAID configuration you have. The RAID 5 configuration is data redundant so you can replace the hard drive and data is not lost.

Thanks

Kindly review the attached screenshots and confirm if, when I swap (change) the RAID driver, the data remains intact or not. Thanks

I cannot see the RAID configuration on this screenshot.

If it is a RAID5 and you have 2 hard drives failed (as I see there) then data are lost. You can try to force online one hard drive and see if you can access the data. But first we need to be sure which is RAID type is the controller (You can see from iDRAC or controller BIOS)

Hello KunalQuantum, could you kindly send your service tag one more time by DM? It should be kept private which is why what you left previously had to get deleted and we didn't get to see the information. ‎Direct Messaging | DELL Technologies

Hello KunalQuantum, I can see the two disks are "failed" (not degraded), in this case, yes you will have to purchase those two drives. Also I don't have high hopes for the data. It's already lost, I'm afraid.

To purchase data it is best that you get in touch with tech support in your region, they should be able to help you with buying disks from Dell. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us
