T320 Server with PERC H310 won't boot after a power outage

Hi, any help would be greatly appreciated. We had a power outage, UPS did a gentle shutdown. However after power was restored, the T320 can't find it's boot drive. the RAID 5 drives are visible on the controller, but system says no boot drive was found.

Hello, you can check if iDRAC is reporting any hardware events. if no hardware events and iDRAC can see PERC and VD, then may need to fix OS issues.

@DELL-Young E After further troubleshooting I discovered that the server originally only had a S110 controller with 4 RAID5 1TB drives. Those were also the boot drives. The PERC H310 was added later to support additional storage. Currently the server only sees the H310, not the S110.

Hello,

For the S110 containing the RAID5 then you need to set the Embedded SATA controller (S110) to RAID mode

<F2> System BIOS > SATA settings > Embedded SATA

Set to RAID mode.

You may need to set it to UEFI mode if you have UEFI aware OS but check the RAID setting first.

I see you have posted to an old thread. We'll leave that one for community discussion.

Since you are owner of this thread, we'll keep our troubleshooting here.

@DELL-Charles R Yes, it was a simple case of the CMOS battery being too weak, and all the settings went to default. We changed the ACHI to RAID, and then told the boot to go to those RAIDS. System came online.

Thank you everyone
