Setting up JBOD, all SATA, a couple of drives just aren't recognized in BIOS/PERC
Ok, so I have an R730 with the H730 PERC in HBA, and trying to set up my JBOD of SATA drives... I have 2x6TB SATA drives just for OS and some file backups between them. Past that, I have 3x12TB, 1x14TB, and 1x16TB drives. The 14 and 16 are picked up no problem. Two of the 12s are WD white label, one of them is picked up and the other just isn't seen, showing as an empty bay. The other 12 is a Water Panther Arsenal drive, same issue. Empty bay, not shown anywhere. Now all of these drives work fine in my home built server, no issues. I've tried everything under the sun, all firmwares are completely up to date, made sure there are no foreign drives detected, no RAID configured and PERC in HBA mode. It just simply doesn't see the two drives period. I'm down to resorting to hooking the two up externally using long SATA cables to the onboard, but I'm hoping someone here might have some idea I haven't had as of yet. Pleeeeeease... Obi Dell Kenobi, you are my only hope.

Hi,
There are circumstances that PERC can recognise hard drives which are not Dell drives, but there are times when it doesn't. Have you tried swapping the drives to other slots on the server? Or the detected drives to the slots where the 12TBs are, to confirm slot has no issue.
When the drives are slotted in, does the LED blink or any signs? Perhaps, you might need to look into PERC logs/TTY Logs to check if there are any errors or root cause. We don't look at logs here in the community, but if you do find any errors in the log, you can paste it here, and we'll try to look for that error message solution.
Perhaps, to troubleshoot the issue, here are some Dell DPN# for 12TB drives which I found under searching for PowerEdge R730:

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.
so you cannot use 12/14/16 TB drives.
You are using 3rd party drives with capacity exceeding the server specs, I'm afraid I am unsure as to what I can do for you as a Dell technician.
Also do you have a service tag you can share with us? https://www.dell.com/community/en/direct-messaging
Respectfully,

See, that's interesting because it recognizes another 12TB, and it recognizes the 14 and 16 fine. It just won't see those 2 12TBs.
