Replacing Perc 6/i with H700 in T310

Hello,

So I am stuck with replacement of Perc 6/i to H700 in T310. I bought the card and correct cable, I checked that T310 Supports H700 but if I plug in H700 it doesn't show up in boot sequence and if I try to install firmware for H700, it says operating system is not supported which is probably because its using Windows Server 2016 Standard. But it works just fine with the Perc 6/i. I am so stuck like no matter how I try it just doesn't show up.

Thank you

Hello,

First I will note; You are correct. Dell did not validate WS2016 for the T310. I don't know how you had it running before. When using an unsupported OS, you would be on your own to make sure it works.

Your PowerEdge T310 supports these operating systems:

Can you check during POST you can enter the PERC controller BIOS with <CTRL+R>

Did you import a raid array or are you setting up clean?

If you have existing array; is the server BIOS in the correct boot mode? UEFI or BIOS boot mode.

You may check Windows Device Manager and see if there is a native driver that works and make it up to date for the H700.

We always recommend you keep good backups.

Have you considered getting a replacement PERC6/I since it worked?

Hello, well 2016 works just fine and it upgrade it to it without problem. Next, I already said that if I boot up with Just H700 it does not show up in POST not even an error. If I boot with PERC 6/i and have H700 just plugged in, in the second x8 PCIe both of them don't show up in POST. If I boot up with only PERC 6/i then it works. The point is to upgrade to a raid controller that can handle more storage, and H700 is listed as compatible with T310 everywhere in Dell documentation.

Thank you
