Raid 5 failure HDD

Hello.

I have a RAID 5 array on a Dell Power Vault NX400 server with a Perc H310 mini controller. I have 4 HDDs in my RAID 5 array. I had a power failure and when the server started up again, one hard drive stopped working and did not turn on and another hard drive appears as FOREING in the RAID. What options do I have to recover my RAID and lose the information?

Hello,

If you had a failed drive and then one went Foreign then you would import the foreign and replace the failed drive.

First consider the status of your backup. If this is critical data and you do not have a backup, you may consider contacting a data recovery company.

Check in the iDRAC System Event Log (SEL) and the LifeCycle Log. Make sure the foreign drive was the last to go offline and the failed drive was failed before that.

If that looks correct then Import the Foreign configuration using the H310 BIOS <Ctrl+R>.

Check access to your data and then replace the failed drive with a good one.
