R650 NVME SERVER connection

HI all ,

I have question :

I have the DELL R650 and NVME is about the connection of the backplane to the NVME bus.

As for our request the system should have 2 960GB SATA SSD connected the the PERC integrated raid controller. These SSDs have to be configured in hardware raid 1 for the operating system.

The other 8 slots should have NVME that, as i know, should be connected to the PCIe slots directly with some kind of HBA or no HBA ?

My question is exactly about this kind of configuration/connection how it is managed from the backplane to the PCIe slots and the cohabitation with the 2 SATA SSDs connected to the PERC controller.

DLOAD.

If you have the nvme compatible backplane installed, then when NVMe drives are connected, they will interface directly with the PCIe slots on the motherboard which communicate directly with the PCIe bus, so an HBA wouldn't be needed. However, if you wish to place them in a redundant configuration using Raid, you could go with the BOSS-S2 controller

As far as cohabitation, the PERC controller manages the SATA SSDs independently of the NVMe drives, but the backplane supports both drive types, allowing them to coexist without interference.

Let me know if this helps.
