R620/PERC H710 : pdr 1024 driver mismatch detected

Hello,

I got a Dell R620 with an H710 Mini RAID card and a SATA cable connected from the RAID card to the backplane. When I connect SAS ST600MP0005 drives, it flashes green three times and then turns off. I can't see them appear in the menu for physical disks. Everything is up to date: BIOS, iDRAC, and RAID card. Do you have any ideas? It's worth noting that these same disks and RAID card work fine on another R620, and the disks mount correctly. That's why it's hard to understand where the problem is coming from.

Thank you in advance for your help.

user_e73a64,

The PDR1024 "drive mismatch detected" error on your R620 using a PERC H710 Mini typically indicates a cabling and backplane compatibility problem—not a firmware or controller issue.
I would go to the manual here and verify your cable routing.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for your reply. So I think the problem lies elsewhere. Here are the tests I have already performed. I have three ESX r620 servers with a Perc h710 card and two different SAS cables. On one of the three ESX servers, the disks work fine with a Perc h710, SAS cable, and disk. But on the other two R620s with the same cables, RAID card, and disks, it doesn't work. So I don't think the SAS cables are the cause of the problem. Do you have any ideas?

Would you confirm the part number for the cables, as well as the controllers for me?

Also, if you access the BIOS on the server, then SATA Settings, are the settings the same from the working to non-working servers?

Yes, I can confirm the requested information.

Cables:
The SAS cable currently installed on the non-working servers is Dell part number 0PD91Y (Mini-SAS).
The same cable model was tested across multiple PowerEdge R620 systems.

Controllers:
All servers are equipped with a Dell PERC H710 Mini RAID controller (with cache battery installed).
The RAID controller model is identical on the working and non-working servers.

BIOS / SATA settings:
In the BIOS → SATA Settings, the configuration is set to RAID mode on both the working and non-working servers.
The settings are identical between the systems, and changes were followed by a full reboot.

Despite using the same disks, RAID controller model, and SAS cables, the disks are detected and work correctly on one R620, but not on the other two, which display the front panel error: PDR1024 – Drive mismatch detected.

At this point, the SAS cable compatibility with the R620 backplane is suspected, as 0PD91Y does not appear to be an R620-specific cable.

Please let me know if you can confirm the correct Dell-supported SAS cable part numbers for a PowerEdge R620 with a PERC H710 Mini controller and 2.5" SAS backplane.

PD91Y is supported on the R620, but is intended to be used with the S110 software controller, now the cable you need will depend on the chassis you have (4hdd, 8hdd, etc) so if you clarify the chassis version you have I can confirm the cable part number.

After checking the front chassis, the server is a PowerEdge R620 with a 4 x 2.5" hot-plug drive bay configuration.
