Problem using iDRAC 7.20.10.05

Server Dell PowerEdge T360 with DELL PERC H755

iDRAC , BIOS  and PERC latest versions

After updating iDRAC to the latest version available on the product page (Dell website) i.e. iDRAC 7.20.10.05 the rear fan (page 18, position 4 in poweredge-t360-technical-guide.pdf) periodically starts at maximum speed for a short period of time (up to a few minutes).
It is annoying and can be a cause for concern!
Rolling back to the previous version iDRAC 7.10.90.00, A00 (Maintenance -> System Update -> RollBack) seems to solve the problem.
Could it be a sensor set incorrectly in the new version that is causing the problem?

Hello,

 It could also be a hardware issue with the fan itself. Have you tried swapping the fan with another one to see if the problem persists? This can help determine if the issue is with the fan or the firmware.

Thanks

@DELL-Marco B

After reverting to the previous version of iDRAC the problem disappeared within a few hours today.
I'll check again tomorrow but it's a bit strange that the hardware problem would appear right after updating iDRAC.

@DELL-Marco B

After almost 24 hours of reverting to the previous version of iDRAC the problem has not appeared again so from my point of view the problem is with iDRAC version 7.20.10.05.
In none of the versions, in IDRAC -> System -> Inventory -> Hardware Inventory -> Fan 1 -> did problems appear.

OK!
I hope the next version of iDRAC will fix this problem because even iDRAC version 7.10.90.00, A00 has its problems!

Confirming the same issue after upgrading to iDRAC 7.20.10.05 yesterday, fans were running at over 9000 rpm!

Followed your recommendation of rolling back and all is back to normal

@DELL-Marco B

Do I need to buy another fan?
Or can Dell send me a fan?
Already 2 users have confirmed that the problem is with the new version of iDRAC!

@Stegam

Go ahead! Until Dell comes up with a solution, there's no other way!

Same problem here on our R450s, and rolling back to iDRAC 7.10 fixed it. Very disappointed that this is still an issue one month after the release.

Hello I was told that it is a new server, so it's best you open up an official case ff you want to get a proper investigation done.  https://dell.to/41h4rLC

Otherwise you can wait for new iDRAC versions and check release notes if there are any fan related fixes. Thank you. Visit our community anytime if you need troubleshooting for your server system. https://www.dell.com/community/en/direct-messaging

It's not the end of the world that a version of iDRAC doesn't work properly and destroys our fans (does DELL replace them?) the problem is that the version is still on the site without even a warning about the problem!
A warning or even removal from the site would stop other administrators from going through this problem that can be solved with a revert.
We can stay with the previous version without making any more firmware updates until the problem is solved.
The previous version has a problem with firmware updates and the current one with fans, what do we choose?

The architecture designed by Dell for servers is OK, as is the iDRAC, it's a shame that such situations occur.
