PowerEdge T360 slow disk performance on PERC160
Hello,
we have a T360 Server with 2x SSD on RAID 1 on PERC160 controller.
The installation was smooth and everything works fine but we noticed very slow performance on disk access.
Disks access is so slow that some operations just fails.
The previous Server was a Poweredge T20, with similar disks but was much faster and reactive.
Chipset and Perc160 drivers have been installed as downloaded from DELL support site.
About Perc160 Drivers, by default it got installed the 7.3.0 version but on Dell support the latest version appears to be 7.2.0
We also tried to downgrade the drivers to 7.2.0 but no improvements so far.
Any suggestions about drivers or configurations that must be made in order to improve disks performance?
Thanks!

Ecitalia,
While we don't support performance issues, what I would suggest you start with is ensuring that the server is also up to date on BIOS and iDrac. Another thing to consider is that you are using a software controller, which won't have the same level of performance capabilities that an H355 (part VCV6T) or H755 (part 29XMF) hardware controller would provide. Also, out of the different raid levels, the raid 1 will have the lowest IOPS of most other raid levels.
On a side note, If you share the drives part number I can verify they are compatible, as that could cause an issue as well.
Let me know what you see and if this helps.

Thank you for your reply.
I understand it's not the ideal configuration, but I compared the performance with an older and much less powerful T20 which also had a software raid and the same level SSD on RAID 1 and never has such loss in performance.
On the old T20 there was installed Intel Rapid Storage, but it's flagged as not supported on the T360.
So I guessed I was missing out some drivers or configurations.
